![]() A glimpse of our cultural heritage can be found as you look at Our Best Restaurant which was once the storage warehouse for the mill. The mill that houses the Sack Room is a great place to buy Christmas and beautiful gifts any time of the year. Plans are underway to open the mill's other floors for both tours, and an antique shop to compliment the Sack Room and Mother's Pride, which is located next door. Breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday from 8-11 A.M. An early morning drive in the country will have you ready to enjoy the homemade biscuits and breakfast traditions of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, or a 6 oz. rib-eye grilled to order. If later in the day is better for your trip to the village of Smithfield, the restaurant serves lunch and dinner from 11 A.M. until 8 P.M. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 11-9 on Friday and Saturday. Menu items range from soup beans and fried cornbread (made with Smithfield Mill corn meal, of course) with either a pork chop or country ham to wonderful fried chicken, hot roast-beef sandwich, fish, grilled chicken breast, and more as well as a wide variety of side items prepared fresh daily.
But, save room for the beautiful homemade cream pies and cobblers. The coconut and chocolate pies are piled high with meringue, and the blackberry, peach or cherry cobblers are wonderful with a scoop of ice cream. There are special entrees each day as well as mouth-watering desserts not on the daily menu.
